8/13 An Interview with: Jarva Dodge
Listen to her amazing story about healing her eyesight!
http://tobtr.com/s/5264841
Jarva grew up in Detroit, Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at Wayne State University. She attended graduate school in Chemistry at the University of Minnesota and took masters courses. She did not finish her masters degree, and was hired as a research chemist by a company in Minneapolis who relocated her later to San Francisco where she lived some years until she moved to Richland, WA, one of the Tri-Cities in Eastern Washington. Her technical work led to computing where she worked at Boeing Computer Services at the Hanford Nuclear Project. She attended Washington State University in Richland for graduate courses in Computer Science. Jarva was recruited to Seattle area by a persistent recruiter who made an offer she could not turn down to work as a database administrator and software engineer. Jarva has worked at well-known companies such as Shell Chemical, Stanford Research Institute, Pacific Gas & Electric for chemical and engineering work; and for IT work: Regence Washington Health (a Blue Cross/Blue Shield company), Corbis, USWeb/CKS, Getty Images, Microsoft, Western Wireless (original owner of T-Mobile) which merged with Alltel and later merged with Verizon Wireless.
For extra-curricular activities, Jarva has run fourteen marathons mostly in the Bay Area, and has a few trophies from fun runs. One year she earned a runner's club trophy for running the most miles in one year, over 1200 miles. Jarva does not need to buy t-shirts because she has a lot of gift fun run t-shirts as well as technical conference t-shirts related to her work. She worked part-time in a health club in San Francisco where she taught aerobics. In the Tri-Cities, she learned to play racquetball and earned some racquetball trophies. She tries to do her best at her goals. Later in life, Jarva slowed down to chess tournaments with trophies as well as reading, interests in health and nutrition, some yoga to stretch from all that past running, and crocheting. A year ago Jarva started a woodworking hobby with interest mostly in children's toys not to sell, but to entertain children of friends, and children she helps at an international organization at a culture center. Jarva lives with her husband who taught her to play chess and racquetball when they were dating. They like to watch the stock market and the game of financial business reports as well as world news. Her friend Deborah mentioned a Wood Technology Center that opened in May 2013 in Seattle, and there's no telling what Jarva might do next with wood training. Jarva said recently, "The more I automate things in my technical work, the more I want to do things the way our ancestors did and work with my hands." Jarva comes from a family of do-it-yourselfers, so it must be in her DNA. Her mother holds several degrees and educated others and worked wonders with her hands in crafts.

I grew up in Honolulu Hawaii, attending Iolani High School. As an athlete who played football, basketball, and track, it was football that I really excelled in. I was blessed to receive many honors in these sports, and it was during this time that I discovered my love for working out.
I accepted an offer to play football for the University of Washington, and redshirted my first year (2002),
due to a shoulder injury. I played my redshirt freshmen year and saw my first start half way through the season. I earned 2nd team Freshmen All American honors during this time, and faced a handful of trials due to injury in the coming years.
Although I was lucky to start in my position throughout all of my years at the U.W, I found that my athleticism had decreased tremendously. My upper and lower body lost a lot of strength, while my speed and vertical seemed to drop as well.
After finishing my career there, I spent much of my time researching and
experimenting to determine why and how this happened. As someone who has been so passionate about constant improvement in athleticism, I didn’t want anyone to go through my experience, thus helping those that I work with to get faster, stronger, quicker and never revert backwards.
Although I work with a wide variety of clientele, I have been working with athletes for nearly three years now and have helped my clients to achieve amazing results. I apply many of the same work ethics on those who are trying to achieve weight loss or maintain weight, as those who are training for their athletic endeavors.
Fitness and strength training is my passion. It is not simply the element of
working hard, but also being intelligent about the kind of work that is done,
which will gain us the success we want to achieve.
