COMMUNITY KITCHENS
http://www.communitykitchensnw.org/
Community Kitchens Northwest has become a program of Seattle Tilth. Stay
tuned to see the new and wonderful changes this partnership will bring.
In community kitchens we bring people together in a common kitchen and
prepare large amounts of food to share. In a Community Kitchen (CK), everyone
gets involved in the cooking, and cleaning, and we all share the food that is
made. Some kitchens cook for the purpose of taking ready-to-eat meals home,
while other kitchens cook for the purpose of enjoying a community meal together.
In addition to leaving a CK with food or a belly full, you gain cooking skills,
fresh ideas, nutrition awareness, and perhaps best of all, new friends.
Rainier Community Kitchen
Kitchens are held on the second Thursday of the month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and cost is $25 per kitchen. We usually make a fresh salad, a casserole to freeze, a soup and a baked item like cookies. When possible we try to use fresh, organic produce and while we do use meat the main focus is on vegetarian options.
Where: Rainier Community Center 4600 38th Ave. S. Seattle, 98118; 206-386-1919.
Rainier Vista Community Kitchen
A new program will offer neighbors a chance to get together and prepare healthy home cooked meals to take home to their freezer. Learn new cooking skills, discover healthy recipes and make new friends!
Want to get involved? We need leaders for this program! Have a skill or a recipe to offer? Want to learn one? Just want to cook with neighbors and get to know each other better?
Leader: Kate Farmer at 206.461.4568 ext. 211 or email at [email protected]
Where: Rainier Vista 4410 29th Ave S, Seattle, Wa 98108
