FEBRUARY FEATURE
http://www.youtube.com/urbanfarmsista I graduated from the Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and am working on a Master’s in Entomology. I have years of experience in floriculture and horticulture from my family’s floral shop, Blossoms Florist located here in Cincinnati. I currently am a Communicable Disease Investigator at Hamilton County Public Health. Aside from my position with the county, I am also an Urban Farmer, Entomologist and owner of a small produce company called Quiwi Produce. I grow food for the community and also teach about organic urban farming/gardening and entomology via multiple social media avenues such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube. I am a strong advocate for teaching sustainable agriculture and self sustainability. That's why in 2015 I want you to start growing your own food.
You can start small by growing a particular vegetable you and your family eats on a regular. It could be just lettuce or tomatoes. Don't have space for a garden? That's fine you can grow in containers and even indoors. I want to show you that you can take back your human God given right to provide for yourself and your family. You can save money on your grocery bill and even produce income by selling your surplus. Not going to talk about the problems with the current food system we live in we all know about that. If you want to learn about hydroponics or how to grow a multitude of crops please comment or send me an inbox message. I will be teaching some classes ( some free some with a fee). There is a farmer in each and everyone of you. Please follow me on my fb page, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter. Username: urbanfarmsista for all.

Seattle Group startup Coconut Oil Project

Mombasa Sustainable Coconut Oil Project
Tarumbeta Women’s Group Story Tarumbeta Women’s Group was started by Palm International Non-governmental Development Organization to help alleviate poverty in the rural area of Mombasa, Kenya. The Kenyan government has identified poverty as greatly contributing to the spread of HIV/AIDS. Palm International supports Tarumbeta Women’s Group to make coconut oil the traditional way. Children’s International Health Relief & Seattle Mombasa Sister City Association in conjunction with Palm International have initiated “The Mombasa Sustainable Coconut Oil Project” to establish a sustainable coconut oil making operation in Mombasa, Kenya that produces an unrefined organic virgin cold-pressed coconut oil from mature locally grown coconuts. Our coconut oil is one of the finest natural oils on the market. It contains no additives, no chemicals, no artificial fragrance and no animal products. Please try our coconut oil and let us know what you think.
